Common Pains That Need to Be Addressed Promptly

by | Other Topics | 0 comments

Everyone gets achy muscles or joints now and then, maybe as a result of overexertion or sleeping oddly. These usually resolve in a day or two. But there are certain kinds of pain that shouldn’t be ignored, especially if they’re located in certain places, and the pain persists for more than a couple of days.

Back Pain

When back pain occurs suddenly, it can cause crippling pain. You may be unable to move, bend, or even walk. If this happens, you need to seek immediate medical attention. While it may be an easily-treatable muscle spasm, there could also be a serious problem with your spine. Pain that causes leg weakness, numbness, or incontinence could indicate a damaged disc pressing on nerves. Inflammation from arthritis is another common cause. Lower back pain can also be a sign of kidney disease or endometriosis.

Tooth Pain

The severity of tooth pain can range from soreness when chewing to unrelenting, throbbing agony. Whatever your symptoms, it’s a sign of dental problems, and you should see a dentist. It may be something as simple as a small cavity, and getting it filled can prevent further damage. A serious infection may need a root canal. Your wisdom teeth could also be a source of pain and other symptoms. These molars often don’t come in properly. Impacted wisdom teeth can lead to health issues such as flu-like symptoms. Removing wisdom teeth can provide a permanent solution.

Stomach Pain

If you’re having pain in your stomach or abdomen, you should get it checked out. The digestive system is complex, and the cause of the pain may be difficult to figure out at first. Your doctor will review your symptoms, take a medical history, and conduct any diagnostic tests needed.

It’s important to rule out serious diseases that need immediate treatment such as appendicitis, pancreatitis, bowel blockage, or cancer. Your doctor may also test for chronic diseases such as Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, or irritable bowel syndrome. These conditions can be addressed with medication and dietary changes.

Home remedies can relieve most everyday pain or discomfort, but you do need to consult a medical professional if you experience some kinds of pain. Sudden or chronic pain, especially in the back, teeth, and stomach, can indicate a serious underlying condition that can be easily treatable. Seeing a doctor now can prevent worse trouble in the future.
