Finding Your Perfect Shapewear

Love it or Hate it, there are times when nothing else will do…

Read these Top 3 Tips from The Bra Guru on finding your

Perfect Shapewear!

Contrary to popular belief, Shapewear, will not help you drop a dress size… and choosing an incorrect size can only have an opposite effect and is sure to give you a night of indigestion. Nor…is it only reserved for the fuller figure.

Shapewear has the power to enhance and it can be comfortable, I Promise. So if you are not finding it comfortable, perhaps it’s time to look at some tips that will turn that dreaded circulation thief into your undercover best friend!

1. Don’t Buy Shapewear that is too small

Gosh, have we been getting this wrong for years?
Shapewear firms up your current size and in order to create a streamlined look, you want to go with a comfortable size. Start with your current brief size.

2. How to put on Shapewear without dislocating your shoulder

Maybe a mild muscle strain is more accurate, even when you buy your right size, it can be a trifle tricky to get on.  Our recommendation is to step into your shapewear rather than trying to get it over your head. You should step in one leg after the other, then it’s a steady pull up.

3. Choose the right style

If your tummy is your biggest concern, then control briefs are what you are after, if you are wearing a figure-hugging dress, then a shaper dress or shorts will smooth out any lumps or bumps.
There are definitely benefits to having a reliable pair in your cupboard when the occasion arrives. Here are my top recommendations:

Top 4 Questions About Bras

Top 4 Questions About Bras

Top 4 Questions About Bras.

Viewed as an essential garment in ladies apparel, bras are more misunderstood than one would expect. Some women even claim to remove their bras as soon as they get home in order to find relief from being constrained all day in an ill-fitting bra. I doesn’t have to be that way. Wearing the right size in a good quality well designed bra can honestly make such a big difference in a woman’s life. It’s no surprise that so many women see bras in a negative light, seeing as 70% aren’t even in the correct size! Here are the top 4 questions that most women ask about bras.

Here are the top 4 questions that most women ask about bras.

1.How can I tell if a bra fits well?

A good bra should not cause your breasts to bulge out the cup when it is worn, nor should it have gaping in the cup. You should be able to fit two fingers between the back strap and your back.

2.Why are the straps digging into my skin?

This is a common complaint among women. One of the likely reasons is that the bra is too small.  The under band should do most of the support work and not the cups. It is recommended that you change your bra if this occurs.

3.How often should I replace my bras?

It depends on several factors. The quality of the bra you own can also play a part. A common answer would be from six to eight months, however don’t feel that you have to use the six to eight month tip as a rule. Think of it as a guideline. You might have bras that last double or triple that depending on the number of bras you have in your collection and how you take care of them.

4. How many bras should I have in my collection?

There is no exact number of bras you should own. It is, however, recommended to purchase at least four bras for a healthy lifestyle. Always find the right size and style that best suits your shape.

AVON Walkathon

AVON Walkathon

We had the opportunity to introduce our amazing Sports bra range at this year’s Avon/Justine IThemba Walk for hope! What a spectacular event, the organisers had thought of everything and it was so wonderful to see so much support for such a worthy cause. I was so glad to be there to show woman the value, if not a necessity, of wearing a sports bra when training or exercising. We will spend money on our workout gear and shoes, both also important, but neglect the most essential item which is keeping your breasts supported during exercise. Your breasts can bounce up to 2000 times per kilometer, that just sounds uncomfortable.

Our bras are superior in design and fit and can give you a feminine separated look too. Our size range also accommodates cups up to an H which is why a lot you train in your everyday bra because you cannot find the right fit in your local sport’s shop. It is also a little known fact that most oncologists recommend breast cancer patients wear a sports bra for maximum comfort.

A sport’s bra should provide and snugger fit and because it has a fuller cup, which is designed for maximum support, they are ideal for fuller coverage fit and do not require a pocket or prosthesis. All in all this was a great opportunity for us to feature our specialist service! I cannot imagine the shock a woman must experience when she gets the news that she has breast cancer but witnessing the fighting spirit of these ladies who champion their cause with their amazing families, friends and even pets in tow is inspiring!

What a sensational message that even through moments of dark despair there are sparkling rays of hope and a loving support system! It is important that we take care of our bodies, prevention is unknown but early detection can save your life. Please get your breasts checked and make self-examination a part of your weekly if not daily routine. This can be done quick whilst in the shower. Until next time, Take care…
