Signs You Aren’t Drinking Enough Water

by | Other Topics | 0 comments

Did you know that many people don’t drink enough water and live with some level of dehydration? Dehydration isn’t just bad for your diet, it can affect your body in many different negative ways.

Here are a few signs that could mean you aren’t drinking enough water daily.

Frequent Headaches

First, if you experience frequent headaches, this is likely a sign that you’re dehydrated and aren’t drinking enough water. Dehydration headaches are especially common in hot or humid areas. When your body is dehydrated, the body’s tissues tighten and contract, and as a result, your nerves are tweaked and pressured, causing pain and headaches.

Dehydration headaches can make you feel a dull pulsing ache in your head or it can also make you feel a sharp pain that worsens in certain positions. If you’re experiencing frequent headaches, take this as a sign that you need to drink more water every day. Take some pain medication and drink up to alleviate your headache!

Digestive Issues

Dehydration can also cause many digestive issues in your body. When you don’t drink enough water, your digestive tract won’t be able to function properly as it should. Don’t mistake drinking soda as a way to appropriately hydrate yourself. Consuming lots of caffeine can result in more fluid loss throughout the day.

This can make your digestive issues and dehydration symptoms even worse. When you’re dehydrated, you might recognize signs of digestive issues such as bloating or constipation. This occurs because your body doesn’t have sufficient fluids to help foods and digested products move through your digestive system easily. Drinking water helps break down the food you consume, allowing your digestive system to work properly without causing these annoying symptoms.

Exhaustion

Another sign that you might not be drinking enough is excessive exhaustion. Everyone feels tired from time to time, but if you find yourself feeling repeatedly exhausted, that might be an indication that you’re not drinking enough. Additionally, if you aren’t able to get a restful, energizing sleep each night, that might also indicate that you’re not drinking enough. Dehydration can directly affect melatonin, which is the sleep hormone that your body produces, which affects your quality of sleep. If you wake up in the morning feeling exhausted and drained, you likely aren’t sleeping well, which could indicate that you need to make changes to your diet and hydration habits.

Remember, these are just a few of the signs that you might experience that indicate you’re not drinking enough water. Make sure that you’re tracking your water intake to ensure that you’re drinking a healthy amount according to your age and physical condition. Staying hydrated will help you to have a healthier, more balanced life.
